What Is Rosacea?
If you’re dealing with rosacea, don’t think you’re part of the minority. In fact, rosacea is a very common facial skin condition! You might notice blushing, or flushing, of the cheeks along with papules (red bumps). Of course, it’s not constant but these flare ups can happen for weeks or months and then dissipate for a while. Some other symptoms of rosacea include:
- Flushing
- Persistent redness
- Papules (red bumps) or pustules (pus-filled bumps)
- Telangiectasia (little blood vessels)
- Swelling
- Stinging or burning sensation
So You Have Rosacea, What do you do?
Dealing with rosacea can be frustrating, we know, but there are ways to avoid triggering flare ups and keeping this skin condition at bay. The best thing you can do, which we know can be the most difficult, is identifying your triggers and of course avoiding them! We’ll go into what kind of things can trigger rosacea flare ups later. Make sure to ALWAYS use sun protection. Not just sunscreen, but physical protectors too like umbrellas and wide brimmed hats. Moisturize religiously! And try out cosmetics, both skincare and makeup, before applying to your face. Check out how to patch test here so you can be a pro!
And of course, if you’re really in the blues about your skin condition, go visit your board certified dermatologist. Rosacea has many lookalikes, so it’s best to get a professional opinion!
